Title: Publishing with Nature
Journals
演講時間/地點:108.08.13(二)10:30~12:00 台達館401會議室
Abstract:
Nature journals have a two-fold mission: facilitating the prompt communications
of the most important scientific developments to the relevant research
communities, while at the same time fostering a greater appreciation of these
great works of science amongst the non-specialists. Although more titles have
joined the Nature family of journals in the recent years, these core principles
remain largely unchanged. In this talk, I will endeavor to shed light on how
our editors apply these principles in practice, and so determine which few of
the many high quality research submissions that we receive make it through to
publication. Moreover, as the scholarly publishing landscape is currently
undergoing a period of unprecedented change, particularly given the launch of
‘Plan S’, an initiative advocating the transition to full and immediate open
access to research publications, I will also try to show some of the benefits
of publishing open access and introduce the measures we have taken to
facilitate open science at Nature Communications.
About
the speaker: Yaoqing Zhang is a Senior Editor at Nature Communications, where
he handles a wide swath of manuscripts spanning the areas of energy materials
research, with a particular focus on solid state ionics and electrochemical
energy storage. Prior to that, he held an assistant professorship in Tokyo
Institute of Technology. His postdoc research involving understanding of
magnetism in low dimensional oxides was also in Japan and he received training
as a solid state chemist in the University of St Andrews for a PhD degree. Dr
Zhang is based in the Shanghai office, and outside the area of his editorial
responsibility, he is enthusiastic about crystallography, superconductivity and
high pressure chemistry.
